Personal Alignment: Riding The Wave of Work/Family Balance

The elements in my life that influence my daily decisions are how much work I have to do and what is going on with my children and family. I always have to balance off the urgency and “tug” of both to make sure each are given the right amount of attention.

The tug and pull of work and family can be a rewarding (and challenging!) balancing act.

The tug and pull of work and family can be a rewarding (and challenging!) balancing act. Here I am completely “in the moment” trying wakesurfing for the first time!

I suppose what often drops off in the mix is the time to myself to actually step back from this tug. When I do, I come away with a much clearer approach to work and am a better mother too. I know I’m personally aligned when I am “in the moment” and completely focused on – and feel satisfied by – what I’m doing.

I’ve also come to learn that while some moments or days or even weeks will feel out of alignment, I know that it’s only a matter of time and concerted effort before it swings back into alignment.
