Last night we kicked off the holiday season with a mystery road trip. I wanted to surprise our team by giving them a chance to do something different…an opportunity that would force us out of our collective comfort zone and experience the exhilaration of a new physical challenge.

Plus, it’s rare that we get to be truly surprised these days (with good things anyway!). While many of our Associates pushed for more information, I managed to keep the destination and activity a secret.

The night began with a limo ride…

and continued with a lesson in…

axe throwing!

Thanks to our fabulous instructor Edyta at Bad Axe Throwing we learned a few key lessons in the sport which can easily be applied to life in the PR world:

Set yourself up…take aim…give it your best shot…and release.

Focus is key. But don’t over-think it!

Make every new challenge an opportunity to have fun.

Trust in your power and the results will come.

Be open to feedback and course-correct as necessary.

And, celebrate when you hit the bull’s-eye!

While it was certainly a night to remember, we think we’ll stick to our day jobs. The pen is mightier than the…axe!
